The Leading Edge

KIDS FROM KA-NA-TA began linking classes across Canada using long-distance calls and the Datapac service, well before the Internet was widely available. The project now takes full advantage of the growing infrastructure of the World Wide Web and all connections are now Internet-based. The project uses award-winning, easy-to-use, fully graphic, Canadian communications software called FirstClass®, operated from the Faculty of Education at York University. Schools who have QuickCam digital cameras will be able to use the Internet to transmit live pictures between classes using CU-SeeMe software.
