A Bit About Our School

With over 900 students and 60 staff members, Armadale Public School is the second largest elementary school in the York Region District School Board and is located in Markham, Ontario, just north of Toronto. The school is a very multicultural one with students mostly from Asian, South Asian, West Indian and African backgrounds.

About two-thirds of the students are first generation Canadian born and the other third are new immigrants themselves. So, generally, the school is a new Canadian population and KA-NA-TA is an excellent opportunity for them to correspond with First Nations groups.

Our Grade Eight class was placed in the Tahitan triad, partnered with two Native schools, in Dease Lake, B.C. and Grandmother's Bay, SK.
